A Call to No One

So, I have a couple of proposed changes. Already? after only like 5 days of posting? No doubt, I'm always hustling.

Anyways, here are my thoughts:

1) Don't embed the videos. Just provide links to places on the web where you can watch/listen/download the audio, be it YouTube (most likely) or some other sites.

This would help make the blog more compact and clean and probably easier to read.

2) Add more emphasis to the about-the-music content. There is a little more talking about the music I could do, a few more stories about the songs or thoughts on them. Maybe a little more research so we can get the albums and years and whatever else would be cool.

Basically I am just thinking about how to make the blog a little more streamlined and interesting to keep up on. Would it be cooler to just come check out three videos each day or read little snippets about three song suggestions each day?

I don't know. So leave any input that you would like to help me make this blog a little more interesting.

And ya, I know some of you folks out there are looking at this. Last check there were 36 pages view. And only 20 of those were mine.

The Daily Three 11/20: Speaking of Sara...

...I like good music, but especially good music by pretty girls.

Sara Bareilles - Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay (acoustic)

Whoaaa. I think its the credits to a dvd of a tour of hers or something. Not that it matters, her music is music to my ears. music.

Ana Free - To be With You (acoustic cover)

This is one of those videos, where no matter what I sounded like I'd watch it. You see that little head flick she does at 1:33? Classic.

Amy Winehouse - Rehab (live)

Ya, say what you want, but she is the pinnacle of women singers. One of the best soulful voices ever. Sure the crack didn't help, and she is probably gone for good except for a hard-to-watch comeback when she's 40. But damn, at this point in time, in this video, shes got it.

The Daily Three 11/19: Three More

And hereeeee we go.

Mr. Lif - Status

I ran into this song on a message board where someone was trying to tout that real hip-hop was not dead. Cool song, but interesting choice to represent that claim.

Millencolin - Bullion

Pretty old, and yet it remains cool as the other side of the pillow. It always makes me think of that chicken bullion stuff.

Sara Bareilles - King of anything

And there, I do listen to songs that have been made within the last five years. Maybe not the best example...

The Daily Three 11/18: Already Late

It seemed like it would be easy to put up a simple post of three songs each day. Considering I spent 90% of my day on the internet it should be even easier. But the time I spend on the internet is used strictly for slacking; I wouldn't really work if I actually did stuff.

Kanye West - Late

Suiting, considering the theme of this post. Also his new album drops soon, but there will be a special post to commemorate that.

The Ataris - San Dimas High School Football Rules (acoustic)

Its a cool song, and the video is funny cause the other band member just sits there and messes with his phone.

Electrelane - Gone Under Sea

So how about I just post two today... no? Fine here you go.

Edit: I guess I thought this was going to go up as a Friday post. My time it is Friday already, but I guess I'm off the hook since we are on Google time.

The Daily Three 11/17 : Already Switchin' It Up

Hello and welcome. I am excited to be doing this. A lot of joy for me comes from music, and to be able to share it is going to be fun. I think this will work out well as my music tastes tend to be pretty eclectic. However, I do sometimes get stuck in periods of only listening to one thing.

Right now I am listening to a ton of rap. Not the Rick Ross, Souja Boy stuff (although I don't if anyone listens to Mr. Soulja anymore...), but my niche is the Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli stuff. I really can't get enough of it.

BUT, so as to not start this blog off on the wrong foot, let's give em something else to talk about.

Avril Lavigne - Nobody's Home (live and acoustic)

I don't know... I just have a huge soft-spot for Avril. I was going to post another video of her crying and playing 'Tomorrow' after her grandpa dies, it's riviting, but that might be too much for today. For now we can just marvel at what a good singer she is. The punk stuff she does is fine, probably got her name out and made herself a lot of money, but when it comes down to it she has some real talent. Witness:

The Roots - Rising Up

Alright, I tried, but it couldn't last too long. Here comes some of my favorite style of music; the smooth, melodic, and instrumentally oriented rap that is the Roots. This song has one of the best choruses I have ever heard, sung by Chrisette Michele.

Yesterday I saw a B-girl crying; yesterday I saw a B-girl crying
I walked up and asked what's wrong,
She told me that the radio's been playing the same song all day long
So I told her I got something you've been waiting for
I got something you've been waiting for

MxPx - Chick Magnet

And here we go, the last song of the first day. Better make it groovy.

Thanks for checking it out. Plenty more to come.

Introduction

Welcome. I came up with this idea when I started texting a friend of mine some songs that I thought they might like. Then I thought, 'I like so many songs, I could do this every day.' And so here we are.

I will be posting three songs each day that I am digging and think you should listen to. Also, for me part of the intrigue of music is the story behind the song or the musicians or just anything that can be an addition to the music itself, so I will try to add as much of that as I can.

Without further ado, I would like to get into this.
